Reflections on young life

Veronica Portel
Hello, my name is Veronica and I am Joann's second cousin. Although we lived a city apart Joann and her family were the closest relatives I have besides my direct family. We would spend many holidays together and I always looked forward to seeing her. Joann was shy when we were growing up but she would still join us for our activities. She always had a kindness to her character even throughout adulthood. She really had a fondness and compassion for animals, she really wanted a cat but couldn't afford to buy one at the time. So she and I went to the animal shelter together and picked out her first cat Haze. We picked out all the cat accessories together such as the bed, food and water bowls. Things didn't work out well with the first cat but she later got the cat she has now named Luca. Although shy, Joann has a adventurous and brave side to her. Something we bonded over, is our love for roller coasters. Her favorite roller coaster is called the Iron Rattler at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. It takes you down a drop of 171 ft at 70 mph. We rode that ride many times and I will always remember her joy and laughter during that ride. My friend was actually afraid to ride that day and Joann was so encouraging, she told my friend " it can be scary but once you ride it. It is worth it from the joy you experience" and because of her kind words my friend rode the ride with us and now loves roller coasters too. Joann, you left so soon. I had so many roller coasters for you to ride, vacations, and plans for us to do, but God blessed me with your presence and I am thankful for all the time we did have together. I can't wait for the roller coasters that we can ride together in heaven.
